About
Established as a hostelry in 1740, the Horse & Jockey has seen many incarnations in its time; Since October 2012, however, when “The Jockey” (as it is locally known) came under new management, things have gone from strength to strength

On the 22nd of June the CAMRA award for the Nottinghamshire Pub of the Year 2023 was presented to the Horse and Jockey. In addition to the excellent selection of ales available, which included three from Liverpool Brewery, we were all treated to some specially prepared “English Tapas”, as they were promoted with a smile to those ready to sample them. The trays of mini-Toad in the Hole were circulated and quickly consumed by the grateful clientele.
Paul will be picking up a further award in September, as the pub has now won East Midlands Pub of the Year and progresses to the National Finals.
Paul picked up a further award at the Branch Meeting at The Embankment on the 28th of September, as the pub has won East Midlands Pub of the Year 2023. Unfortunately the regional finalists were announced on the 17th October and the Horse & Jockey has not made it through to the last four on this occasion.

Their activity also goes beyond the pub doors, as demonstrated by their recent entry in the local Stapleford Scarecrow Competition, which was held between the 28th & 30th July. Voted for by the public, the effort of the staff, led by Amanda’s creative flair received more votes and was therefore rightly positioned in the Winners Enclosure!

What makes the Horse & Jockey such a popular Pub?
