New openings/pub news:

Robin Hood, Sherwood Now re-opened under the Pub People Company banner.
Ropewalk, Canning Circus
Now back in business with a good choice of real ales. After promising so much early in the year and let down badly by their parent company, the guys have managed to get back to similar levels of choice so get up there and try them out. You won't be disappointed. Look out for a Canning Circus Ale Festival in the new year.
Major Oak
Formerly the Hogs Head has had a minor refurbishment and re-branding. Still great ales available. Find it on Victoria Street/Pelham Street, behind the Market Square Council House. Visit the Pit & Pendulum at the same time (see above).
Stag Inn
at Kimberley is now on the SIBA scheme, and hopes to get Local beers in on a regular basis, (although this may not mean on a permanent basis). First beers on were Dancing Duck; Ay Up, and Flipside; Copper Penny.
Trent Navigation
, Iremonger Road, Meadow Lane, Nottingham re-opened 5th August, under the Great Northern Inns banner and complements its sister pubs The Globe, across the canal on London Road and Southbank, just over Trent Bridge. With the newly opened Trent Bridge Inn the beer choice in the Trent Bridge area is now worth seeking out. If you are visiting the city for football, cricket (try also the Larwood & Voce at the back of the ground) or rugby then you do not have to travel very far from the grounds for good real ale.
Navigation, Wilford Street, Nottingham Re-opened Saturday 2nd July. Now showcasing some good music, with real ales, give it a try and encouragement.
Re-opened under the Pub People Company on Wednesday 7th July, The Waggon & Horses at Redhill with 5 beers. Lunchtime food includes real chips, to go with the beer.

Canning Circus has another real ale venue, this time directly owned by a brewery; Blue Monkey. The Organ Grinder, replacing the Red Lion on Alfreton Road. It is open noon to 11pm (12 if custom) daily. One not to be missed - but try the Canning Circus Crawl while you are there.
Try also the Hole in the Wall, Sherwood street. Now re-opened it had 3 real ales to start with.
Yew Tree in Hucknall has started having real ale, at only £2.40/pint. Give it a go and encourage more beers to be added.

Online Guide & Data Base
Go to www.whatpub.org

Volunteer to survey a pub
Please send an email and we will contact you with details to:

We are currently creating a new online guide and pubs database. You can access this from the following link www.whatpub.org . Type Nottingham in the Town field and you will get a list of pubs, click on the pub to view details. The listing at the moment is incomplete many without much detail and a warning of being out of date, but we are working diligently to bring this up to a full list of Nottingham and district pubs (including non real ale pubs). You will notice it also serves Cheshire, Wigan, Chesterfield and parts of South & West London. The aim is for a common guide and data base across branch areas, and we hope that more branches will sign up to the system in the near future.
