At
the recent AGM and members weekend, motion 4 was put forward.
This was to get CAMRA to agree to campaign to get brewers
to say on pump clips and literature where beer is actually
brewed. For example according to the pump clip Old Speckled
Hen is brewed at Moorland. Oh no it isn't its brewed at
Bury St Edmund's. Ruddles County, brewed at Bury St Edmund's.
Hardy and Hansons beers brewed at Bury St Edmund's. Mansfield
bitter brewed at Mansfield? No brewed at Marstons brewery,
Wolverhampton. The list goes on. But this amounts to misleading
the drinking public to drinking what we are calling "fake
beers" without even knowing it.
The
most recent of course is Hardy & Hansons taken over
and closed down by Greene King, but look at their pubs,
still selling H & H beers with H & H signage still
plastered all over the outside and in. Surely
we can not stand by and let brewers get away with this deception.
So now we can campaign against this.
This motion ties in with the LocAle campaign as these "fake
beers" are being transported back many miles to be
sold in pubs that where once local to the original breweries.
So play your part and support our drink LocAle in local
pubs campaign.. |
